Reading is a huge passion for Sophie. Her passion for reading began when her mom would take her to the library every Wednesday in the summer as a young girl. After the weekly library trip Sophie began to use reading as a way to spend her downtime while camping and she fell in love with the mystery and thrill of being in a different place. Most people read for enjoyment, but there are many more reasons to read. These reasons include: reading for information, reading for travel, and reading to experience. Many people read only for one of the reasons listed before and that is what makes them believe that they are not good readers. Sophie believes that in order to become a good reader one must read for enjoyment, information, travel, and experiences. In doing so Sophie believes the reader can truly comprehend the book they have chosen to read. When Sophie is reading she tries to find books that will allow her to put herself in the book and experience what she is reading as a if it were a movie in her brain. While Sophie does view herself as a good reader she does find it difficult to pick up a book when she has difficulty picturing the image the author is trying to create. When choosing a book Sophie generally looks for books with themes that she can relate to or she is interested. The qualities Sophie looks for in a book include a catchy title and brightly covered books that have a very interesting description on the back or inside cover. When Sophie has free time that is not being spent coloring and binge watching on Netflix you can find her diving into multiple books at one time; however, due to Sophie's busy schedule this is not as often as she would like. Sophie has a huge passion for reading and she views it as an essential part of life.
Sophie does not consider herself a writer due to her hatred of handwriting things, so she avoids writing like the plaque. Many people learn to write in their elementary school days and they grow to have a passion for writing from a specific teacher. Sophie believes it is the passion for writing that makes a person a writer Those who are writers write to tell a story, share information, or document an idea. In order to write well a person must write frequently. The same way athletes must train everyday to see an improvement, writers need to practice writing so they can improve. Sophie does enjoy journaling and documenting her day. When journaling Sophie usually decides to document a things that were similar throughout that day. If Sophie is not journaling her ideas come from childhood memories or stories she created when she was a child. When Sophie is looking for feedback on her writing she finds constructive criticism the most helpful. Due to the fact that she does not see herself as a very good writer Sophie is always looking to improve. Sophie tries to write at least one journal entry a week if not more so she is able to look back at what has happened in her life. It is pretty difficult to start writing for Sophie but she does want to work on becoming a writer.
